Jack
& Colleen McDaniel
Founders
and owners of one of the largest canine behavior modification centers
in the world, The Academy of Canine Behavior, and authors of Pooches
& Small Fry. The McDaniel's bring a combined experience
of over 77 years to their business. The diversity of their canine experiences
lends sagacity to the business.
The
Academy was established in 1981. Located
in Bothell, Washington, The Academy employs approximately
25 people. They see over 3,000 dogs a year of all ages, types and breeds,
and have dealt with over 55,000 dogs.
Among
the many services offered, the free
evaluation is our cornerstone. Evaluations are
typically scheduled Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between
9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Anyone can schedule an evaluation
and get a professional opinion about their dogs behavior
and recommendations on how to proceed with training.
The Academy of Canine Behavior specializes in aggressive
behavior.
Further services include group
classes for owners and their dogs based on solid behavior
techniques and sound training principles. A very successful board
and train program (over 99% success, all problems, all ages
and breeds) is the hallmark of The Academy. Also offered is an intense
and professional apprentice
program for people who are serious about learning more about
canine behavior and training. The kennel also offers full care boarding
and grooming
services.
The
Academy is located on 10
beautifully landscaped acres and is totally fenced with 8’
chain link. This park like grounds allows a variety of opportunities
for working with dogs. The modern kennel building is over 18,000 sq.
ft. and is of brick construction. The runs are indoor-outdoor, heated
and air-conditioned. Indoor is about 8' X 6', Outdoor is about
8' X 26'. There is plenty of room to move around, play with a
roommate and nice and cozy when it's time to go inside.
